The Dragon is a stereotypically Western dragon and remains popular with fans of the well-known fantasy creature.

Colors

When first created, the Dragon is Common by default; this gives it a rather unique coloring that is primarily green with yellow chest scales and red spikes along its head and spine. It is available in 15 additional colors, including Darkmatter and Bloodred.

Criticism

Most criticism concerning the Dragon surrounds its rather unoriginal name. Other complaints include the poorly-executed anatomy of the Angelic and Hydrus versions.

As with so many of Subeta's other pets, many newbies tend to make the claim that the Dragon is a ripoff of major competitor NeoPets' Draik [1]. The basis of the argument is usually that they are both obviously Western dragons, use names that are both terms for the same sort of creature, and both appear to be bipedal. What most people fail to realize is that Subeta's Dragon has actually been around longer than the Draik, making the claim not only untrue, but possibly reversible.

The Dragon was originally based more heavily upon Asian dragons than Western varieties; this is evident in its appearance, namely the ears, whiskers, and lack of wings.[2] In 2007, however, the Dragon received an unpolled revamp that stripped the species of its Eastern influence and is likely to remain in its new design, despite the outcries of users who claimed to have created one for its Eastern look. To pacify those who were angry about the Dragon's radical makeover, the Mahar was created.
In Asian mythology, dragons are benevolent. This is quite unlike the Western portrayal of dragons, which are generally considered to be uncontrollably evil.
In 2005, Keith and other members of the staff decided to rename the Dragon. No name was ever decided upon, however, and so the name remains.
The current version of the Dragon was drawn by staff AA Artist DNA.
In November 2008 the Dragons were given a new name, Rreigns, as told by Curie the Prototype. Many users complained about the name change of the minion Red Dragon to Red Rreignling and said that the name itself doesn't sound draconic enough.
