Before adding a clothing article you have to know just a few simple things to fit your article into current standards.

Contents

Starting an article

Making work easier

There goes blank clothing article, you just have to fill it and maybe add some more categories, additional information, etc.

Things to remember

Images

  • Don't use hotlinked images from Subeta, upload them to Wikibeta.
Note: Will be faster if you upload the image after adding an article. Write the image code in the article (Remember to write the right format! For a picture of an item use gif, but for avatar previews - png) and when you are done with your article you will notice that instead of an image you will see a red/broken image link. Click on it and then upload your image.
  • Add BOTH (very advised) avatar previews (first the female, then male). If it is possible don't use bald previews ;) (Shadoweyriegirl hates them).
Note: For clothes which are hard to see with hair, please use bald previews. For example - Double Ear Piercing Jewelry article.

Uses/Type

  • Don't forget about items uses! Remember to recheck the item - maybe your item is something more than clothing? :)
  • If you are unsure if the item has any other uses, go to the item in your inventory and click on it. If there are any options besides 'Move to Wardrobe' and 'Put in (pet name)s treasure chest', then adjust the uses appropriately.

Additional info

  • Remember to add any additional information you know - Is it a Trivia Prize, Game prize, etc.
  • It is not advised to add clothing if you don't know where it comes from.

Categorizing

  • Most important - add Rarity and Wardrobe slot categories!
  • Equally important is to add Additional categories - Trivia Prize, Advent Calendar category, Cash Shop, etc. Look through Item categories to find out where your item belongs.
  • If you discover that your clothing item has got more uses than Clothing, than remember to add the right category.

See Also

  • If you know that there is another clothing that looks with your clothe (looks just like a set of clothing) feel free under heading 'See Also' add that clothing's name.
  • If clothing really should be a set (like Subeautique sets) than add a Clothing Set Article (for more info look down for heading "Clothing Sets").

Adding an item you don't have

You're welcome to add items you don't have, but just remember to standardize it so others can find it and then, without confusion, add more information. These few things are VERY important.

Things to remember

Images

  • IMPORTANT - If you don't have the avatar preview, remember to leave the 'Avatar preview' heading!! It is not advised to leave red/broken image links.

Adding information

  • You have to add all information and headings (exceptions are Artist and Wardrobe slot).
  • If you don't know the wardrobe slot of a particular item, instead of wardrobe slot name write in 'Unknown'.
  • To find the description of an item, you can search for it using 'Search Shops' and then hover over the image, or you can search for it using the 'Search' link.
  • To find the rarity of an item, you should search for it using the 'Search' link found on the Subeta sidebar.

Categorizing

  • If you don't know the wardrobe slot, instead of wardrobe slot category use Wearables category.
  • If you don't have the avatar preview remember to add Avatar preview needed category.

Clothing Sets

If you think that some clothes are set (They're like Subeautique set), feel free to add a set article. Just few things to remember.

  • For Template use this article: White Opal clothing set
  • If items dont have similar names, more likely its not a set and it is not advised to add it. Better add see also heading and list similar items.
  • If this set have a lot of color variations, it's not advised to add set. Better write down similar items under see also heading.
  • If you know any similar sets (like Mori clothing set and Nori clothing set), list them down under Similar Sets heading.
  • If you add items which belong to set, remember to add them See also heading and under it write set's name where this item belongs to.

Making Clothing previews with Photoshop

This might be very handy if you want to add clothing preview you dont have. Its not necessary to have exactly Photoshop. But you must have at least similar program where you can work with many layers and many files in a row.

Step 1: finding a clothing image

Firstly you have to find a clothing preview without human avatar. Type into URL box this adress http://images.subeta.org/avatars2/1_2_3.png

Now you have to fill this address with information.

1 stands for clothing gender. Delete it out and fill it with gender initial. Write b if clothing do not change when applied on both genders. Write f or m if clothing changes when applied on both genders (f stands for female, m stands for male).

2 stands for layer. Delete it out and write full layer name with small letters (do not capitalize!).

3 stands for clothing name. Delete it out and write clothing name. It is not same as you just imagined. To find clothing name you need, search in Shops for this item. Than right click on item's image => Properties. Now you must find image's location. Copy it and paste it for example on Notepad. You will see something like this:

http://images.subeta.org/items/clothing_blackstuddedbelt.gif

Copy text which goes after clothing_ (this text is in bold).

Sometimes you might see many variations of this text you need. For example:

example here.

If you have done all this, you can press Enter button and here you go! You have found item's preview! Remember to Save image As and now its time to put it together with your avatar with a little help from Adobe Photoshop!

Note: NOT ALWAYS it is so nice like this!

When finding a clothing image is unsuccessful

If your attempt to get image is unsuccessful, go trough these steps till you find it.

1st step: Looking for mistakes

Firstly check if you wrote information correctly.

  • Check that you don't have any capitalized letters.
  • Try to change gender from both (b) to female (f) or male (m) or from f or m to b. Maybe you were wrong?
  • Check that you didn't make mistake with telling item's layer.
  • Recheck item name. Maybe you missed some letters while copying name?
2nd step: Looking for similar items
  • If you have similar item, than go to your Wardrobe, put similar item on your avatar, Right click on your avatar =>Properties. So you will see this item avatar preview's Properties. Find Image URL and seek for items name. This item's name might be similar to that one's your searching for.
  • If this fails, or you don't have any similar items, try to search in Subeta shops for similar items and check their names. Play with them a bit and maybe you will be able to find right one.
3rd step: Playing with names

If it fails and you really want to find preview, you can try to play with name - write it in many variations. But still theres not a big chance that you will find it. Remember: Mostly it works with new clothes! Suggestions:

  • Try to add or remove _ signs in name.
  • Try to play with item's real name.
  • Try to change word order.
  • Don't use capitalization

Step 2: saving human avatar without clothes

  • Make clear human avatars in your Wardrobe. When its done, press right click on it =>Save As.
  • Remember to make avatars for BOTH genders!
  • Remember to check if you don't need bald preview, but only if it is really necessary!

Step 3: putting together human avatar and clothing with Photoshop

If you're already advanced in working with Photoshop, you still should read this, because some things in putting together clothing and avatar might be tricky.

coming soon. :P
