Help:Adding an Item article

Adding item articles to Wikibeta is one of the most useful things to do - however, please read the below first so that it is consistent with the rest of Wikibeta, and so that things are easy to find. If you are looking to add a Clothing article, it is probably best to visit Help:Adding a Clothing article instead.

Basic Format
The basic format for adding an item article is as follows:
Uses: (use) Description: "(description)" Rarity: (rarity number) Restocks at: (shop name here)
A lot of the time, the items you add will differ slightly from this template - if in doubt of what to change after reading all of this article, you can always ask on the Community Portal, or feel free to comment on my talk page :)
Uploading an Image
Please make sure that you do not hotlink (directly link) images from Subeta. Instead, click on 'Upload File' on the side of your page (or here).
Alternatively, when you are creating the item article, type something like and when you have saved the article, click on the red link to go straight to the upload page - the image name will already be filled in :). Note that the image cannot be uploaded from a URL; you have to save it to your computer first. Right-click on the image, and select 'Save image as...' (depending on your browser, it might differ).
Uses
The Uses line is used to inform readers of what the item can be used for; obviously, as all items can be placed in a pet's treasure, donated, or deleted, it is unnecessary to put this in. The following list of uses can be applied to an item article:
- Toy
- Clothing
- Clickable
- Weapon
- Food
- Minion
- Book
- Stat Booster
- Sticker
- Elixir
- Potion
- Furniture
- Snowball (use)
Additionally, if the item is useable, simply type in 'Useable - (attach details here)'.
Description
The Description line is pretty self-explanatory, and if you need to find the description of the item, you can simply search for the item in the 'Search Shops' link on the sidebar, and hover over the picture to read it.
Rarity
The rarity of an item should be easy enough to find. Go to "Search" on the sidebar, type in the item's name, select "item" and then click search. Click on the item you want the rarity for, and it should show you the rarity, as long as it is under rarity 80. If it is above rarity 80, then you can always check where it stocks. If it is a seasonal item, then it will be set at R101 until it is unretired. R105 are Artifacts, and purchased in the Millionaire Center. R110 are Donation Items, from the Cash Shop. R150 are special items, ones that can be obtained a number of ways - from the Trivia, giveaways, Free Gifts, from the Asmodeus Genetech Lab, or from some other things.
Restocks at
The Restocks at line may be harder to fill out. If possible, check in the news post announcing the item's release. If you cannot find it, then it may be best to hold off adding the article until the information is found out.
If you have found out that the item does not restock in the Main Shops, but is instead purchased through the Millionaire Center, the Token Shop, or otherwise obtained, put 'Does not restock' in place of the shop link and add a note as shown below.
Category
Don't forget to categorize your article once you have filled out all of the basic information! Categorizing makes it easier for people to find what they want. Below is a list of commonly used categories:
- Toys
- Minions
- Weapons
- Food
- Books
- Magic
- Advent Calendar
- Asmodeus Genetech Lab
- Blackheart Hollow
- Cash Shop
- Free Gifts
- Millionaire Center
- Token Shop
- Trivia Prizes
(Please note that the above is not an entire list - if you wish to see the entire list of categories, go to the main Items Category page and explore the subcategories.)
Also, all Item articles need to be categorized into their rarity category - this is "Category:R" followed by the number. If adding an item of rarity 1-9, make sure you put a 0 in front of the digit - eg "Category:R08" instead of "Category:R8"
Please see Help:Adding a Clothing article for details on categorizing Clothing items.
Adding items that are different
Some items will need additional information added to them - maybe it is a random fact that users may wish to know about an item, or maybe how the item is obtained. If it is the latter, then add the following:
Notes:
to the article, underneath the "Restocks at" line. For example, the Avarice can be purchased at the Millionaire Centre - so you would add in
Notes: Millionaire Center item (60,000,000 sP)
For the Hiryuu, which is a Genetech Lab Combination, you would put
Notes: Can be obtained by combining Aemis + Eternal at the Asmodeus Genetech Lab.
For seasonal items, add the rarity and restocks at line as normal, but add a note saying:
Notes: Seasonal item - available during (month/time of year available).
And finally, for Donation Items,
Notes: (month) (year) Donation Present Item.
If you wish to add a fact about your item (see Aemis for an example) then place the following in the article, just before the Categories.
==Did you know?== * (fact goes here)
What items should I add?
In answer to the above question, add anything and everything. It is useful if you add items such as any of the red links on the monthly release item articles, starting from the oldest and working your way to the newer ones. However, any items lying around in your inventory, vault, galleries, or shops that have not been added to the release lists or Wikibeta should be added.
A perfect article
The Burrito Article is an example of a perfect article. Obviously, it is not a very specialized article; the Burrito is only a Food item and so is a good starting point for other articles.
