The Swampie is a Loch Ness Monster-like creature, that is said to dwell in Subeta's murkiest swamps. This creature is one of the few that is not adoptable by regular means, but must rather be aquired by using the Pet Zapper, finding one in Adopt R Us, or through the use of an elixir.

The Swampie is usually Common by default and is primarily various shades of swamp muck, being more natural shades of green. The Swampie is also one of the few pets that does not have greatly subeta-style eyes, giving it a glassy and animal-like stare. Similar to the Serpenth and Kora, it also seems to have a mystical appearance.

This species is available in many colors, including Dark Matter and Nuclear

Criticism

The reborn Swampie's lack of consistancy with the rest of the species is perhaps in need of some fixing. However, artistically speaking, the lineart and shading are good, and the creature's glassy stare and lack of mouth are considered by some to be its best points. Also, the revamp seems to have neglected a few "variant pose" colors, most notably the Bloodred Swampie.

Did You Know?

  • The Swampie has been through numerous revamps, the most recent (which made it more eel-like than before) having occured in 2007. While many users claim to dislike Swampies (for the same reason as with the Darkonite), the pet has a fiercely-devoted underground following, many of whom were upset by this unpolled revamp, which was seen as 'drastic' and 'unnecessary' by the majority.
  • Staff Artist Aqua made the Galactic Swampie.
  • Former Staff Artist Sooki made the Angelic and Graveyard Swampie.
  • Former Staff Artist Mythica made the Reborn Swampie.
  • Staff Artist Spiritchan made the Darkmatter and Hydrus Swampie - and also made the line-art for the Spectrum Swampie.
  • The Loch Ness Monster (sometimes called Nessie), a famous cryptozoological beast in Scotland, inspired the Swampie.
  • The extinct Plesiosaur is thought to be the inspiration behind the Loch Ness Monster.
